Shu-Te University gifted the international students a Taiwanese retro bag filled with warm blessings 111.1.27

 

[Kaohsiung News] The global spread of the pandemic has made a long separation between our family and friends are more challenging. Most international students have rarely returned to their home countries in the past two years. During the upcoming Chinese New Year, the students still decided to stay in Taiwan for celebrations. Thus, the Student Housing Service Division of the Student Affairs of Shu-Te University prepared the retro bags known as Taiwan LV bags for the 215 international students and Taiwanese students who stay at dormitory due to part-time. The retro bags will be given by our Vice President Alan D. Yein, Dean of Student Affairs, Yen Shih-Hui, and Associate Dean of Student Affairs K.H.

Cheng.

 

Vice President Alan D. Yein exhorts the students to report their safety and health by wearing a mask when going out, washing hands regularly, avoiding crowded areas to reassure their family members and teachers.

 

The retro blessings bag contains Taiwanese rice puff with sesame, dried radish Cookies, pineapple tart, chocolate coins, and more experience the culture of Taiwan and the blessings from teachers during Chinese New Year.

 

Speaking of hometown food for the Chinese New Year, the international students shared the similarities foods they had found in Taiwan. For instance, Juna from Japan said they also have rice cakes, oranges, and the most important Osechi cuisine is soba noodles. Lin You Xuan from Indonesia mentioned that the shapes of the rice cake from Indonesia and Taiwan are the same. Vietnamese student Du Xiu Ling said they eat Zongzi stuffed inside with pork and mushroom similar to Taiwan. Lastly, student Nana loves to eat Prosperity Toss, fish dishes in her hometown in Malaysia. And of course, the delicious Chinese New Year rice cake can be seen as an important position in east Asian food culture.

 

At last, the international students miss a thousand miles of their hometown due to the new outbreak variant of COVID continuous in this epidemics. The gift from the school shows the affection of caring to the students without feeling homesick.
