[Kaohsiung News] The president of Shu-Te University, Mr.Ching Yaw Chen, and the senior vice president of ASE Group Global Mr. Chou Kuang-Chun signed a strategic alliance for educational partnership. To achieve common goals of nurturing industrial talents and shortening the gap between education and application. Also, creating a win-win situation for Shu-Te University and ASE Group Global.

The Ministry of Education promotes the Industry-Academia Cooperation Program, which solves the issue of workers’ talent shortage and students from technical colleges going on to higher education through the integration of technical high schools and colleges, cultivating technical talents to meet the needs of industry.

The cooperation between the two parties includes providing students with workplace internship opportunities, mediating students’ applications for internship jobs, conducting internship matchmaking seminars, co-teaching and co-development programs, establishing a mechanism for student internship and job counseling, formulating selection criteria and training plans, and providing counseling and transfer mechanisms for students. In the process of discussion, the two parties will plan and discuss the curriculum design, professional learning, and course counseling to ensure that the students can quickly connect with the professional training provided by the ASE Group Global when they study at Shu-Te University.

The class was mainly recruited by the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering. The target students are high school vocational students under 29 years old, and non-fresh graduates are also eligible. Four classes will be held in two shifts, and the classes will be held on non-working days two days according to the corporate schedule.

Mr. Ching Yaw Chen stated that there are 524 alumni or graduate students who have served in the ASE Group. The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering includes the course of Information Engineering, Computer and Communication, and Information Management, etc. In the future, we will have the opportunity to bring elite students in the form of classroom training of 2.0 to the higher level talents to the ASE Group Global, so that the students can apply their knowledge and have an impact on the industry, creating a new industry in the future.

Mr. Chou Kuang-Chun further stated that ASE Semiconductor’s packaging and test manufacturing services are nearly 30% of the global market. They provide the customers with integrated services from wafer front-end and wafer pin testing to back-end packaging, materials, and finished product services. The automation rate has reached 50% which is a local industry in Kaohsiung. We expect the young people from the north or foreign students to return to Taiwan to join the ASE Group Global, especially in the automation and intelligent industry. One of the reasons to cooperate with Shu-Te University is the students’ information soft power is aligned with the intelligent development of ASE, and the orientation of talent cultivation and career convergence is to understand the current situation of the industry through practice and experience so that the academic theory and career can be quickly aligned and the integration of industry and academia can be realized.
