【Kaohsiung News】The Department of Product Design of Shu-Te University achieved remarkable results with three gold medals in the XV International Warsaw Invention Show announced by the Intellectual Properties, Ministry of Economic Affairs. The two instructors, Chen Wen Liang and Lin Qun Chao have led the three teams along with the students. The team of the director Chen Wen Liang has gained 2 gold medals. While the team of instructor Qun Chao has achieved 1 gold medal.

[Temporary placement structure and system of mobile phone] is a final project designed by the instructor Lin Qun Chao and the two alumni Zheng Ding and You Han Yu. Alumni Zheng Ding performed well during the university. After graduation, he served as a designer at Merry Yard International Enterprise Corporation in Tainan. It is a well-known company o brand La New; Alumni You Han Yu is presently studying Master Program of Innovation and Design at the National Taipei University of Technology. The innovative conference microphone is providing a wireless charging function that can be prevented people from using mobile phones during meetings. The design of the charging area can accommodate 4.7 to 6.5 inches of mobile phones with a 15° slope to increase the difficulty of participants from having the urge to use their phones when the message is prompted.  The flash will be activated to remind the participants to put their phones in the charging area. If any of the participants pick up their phone, a strong flash will be emitted to stop using the mobile phone while at the meeting. In addition, to prevent forgetting to take the mobile phone back, the flash will be activated again to remind the participants to take their phone.

Instructor Lin Qun Chao indicated the mobile device system works are of high quality, innovative, highly marketable. Our school has been carried out a project grants into intellectual property and patents. These awards are to reward the student’s abilities, enriching their experiment and achievements for the international honor, also winning the honor for our school.

The team of the director Chen Wen Liang gained 2 gold medals in the works of Intelligent medication management device and modular light bulb device. These works have obtained a patent license.

The instructor of [Modular Light Bulb Device] Chen Wei Liang, student Yao Wei Liang, senior Zhuang Xin Yu, and Cai You Lin use the benefit of LED lights such as low power consumption, small size, long period, and low temperature on the device. Incandescent light bulbs usually have been replaced by LEDs from mainstream lighting due to their higher power consumption and high temperature. It is also the new lighting sources that the industry is striving to develop. However, the design of the LEDs is fully-sealed in the light cover, so when the LED is damaged, it is discarded, resulting in waste of other available materials and increased cost. Even though LED lamps with adjustable brightness and color temperature have launched to the market, the disadvantage is that the circuit for scheduling the luminosity is complicated. A dimming switch must be installed on the lamp, the control circuit must be configured in the wall to increase the difficulty of the wiring and safety concerns.

 

[Modular Light Bulb Device] combines the principle of building blocks and adopts a modular building block design for LED bulbs. If one of the light bulbs is damaged, the user can easily remove and replace the damaged part, increasing the convenience of quality maintenance. If the user of the device needs to adjust the brightness of the light, he can replace the larger wattage modular block bulb to meet the suitable brightness. It can reduce the waste of material resources and purse expenditure, and at the same time can make the product achieve the green concept of energy-saving and carbon reduction. Effectively has a sustainable cycle and extends the life of the product, in line with the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) design concept, making the living environment and the earth’s ecology more stunning.

 

 

 

The director Chen Wen Liang stated that when student Hong Yi Zhu has passionate about the industry and product design course while studying at Chia-Chi’s Women Middle School Fashion Design. Student Hong Yi Zhu traveled to the south part of Taiwan to choose the Product Design course as their first choice with students Han Yu Qin and Zheng Hui Ying. Alumni Yao Ying Liang is currently working at a small office home office (SOHO) carrying his underclassman to pass his experiences from one generation to another with the designer’s spirit with knowledge are cultivated and becomes a precious moment.
